Your right to be protected from disease

There are diseases that are mainly transmitted through sexual contact. These include the so-called Chlamydia infection, HIV/Aids or HPV/Papillomavirus, for example.

It is not written on anyone’s face whether he is sick with a sexually transmissible disease. And people can also be affected with it without knowing about it themselves.

You have a right to comprehensive education and information about sexually transmitted diseases, about sex education in school or you can visit a pro familia counselling centres, for example.

Those who know about these diseases can protect themselves and others better.

If you are suffering from such a disease, you are entitled to appropriate, respectful and discreet medical treatment. You can get this from your general practitioner, from gynaecologists or from corresponding specialists. Even if you may feel uncomfortable, it is better to consult a doctor, if you suspect that you have a problem. For example, if you experience unusual discharge, rash, pimples, burning or itching in your genitals.

You can protect yourself and your sexual partner from sexually transmitted diseases by using condoms .
